These days, “Scenario” by A Tribe Called Quest (Tribe) gets Becky and Chad* moving like House of Pain’s “Jump Around.” Tribe, and in particular their track “Scenario,” is one of those groups that suburbanites everywhere have plucked out of the context of their genre and adopted as an anthem (think white stoner dude listening to Bob Marley but he’s never heard of The Mighty Diamonds… you know the type). The truth is that while Tribe’s sound might have been easily accessible and innocent enough to propel them into the pop charts, their music is not pop and never has been.
