After the wild success of last week’s Volume One, Baltimore’s Jonny Blaze returns with the 20 Minute Meltdown Volume 2 mix, in which he attempts, and truly succeeds in taking us on a journey through the world of hip hop, as in Blaze’s own words, he wants the world to know that “Baltimore DJs just don’t spin club music.” The mix travels through the underground, the Dirty South, the Old School, top 40 and just about everywhere else, a 20 minute sample of Blaze’s ability. The charismatic Baltimore legend is at Blisspop this Saturday night with host Will Eastman and Eastman collaborator, fellow Baltimore artist, rapper TT the Artist on the microphones, which should be one of the destination point events of the year at Black Cat’s Backstage.

Yes, you read that right. True Genius Requires Insanity presents our first in a series of mixtapes from the one and only, DJ Jonny Blaze. Blaze has been a friend to the site since nearly day one, and we proudly present his first in a series of “20 Minute Meltdown” mixes. If you ask anyone who is anyone on the Baltimore or DC club and dance music scene if they have a Jonny Blaze story, they have five. And they’re all the most entertaining stories you’ll ever hear. Trust and believe, the man is an institution, just as much as crab cakes, the Orioles, the Harbor or Fells Point. Jonny is easily one of the most well known cornerstones of, and respected figures and most charismatic characters in all of the history of Baltimore Club music. Knowing the site’s and my personal love for Bmore Club, it’s an honor and pleasure to have him send along this material. Jonny Blaze is a club veteran, and this is clearly shown in the mix. Giving us some of the keys of the Baltimore party experience in 90’s house, mixed with some early pop dance classics, as well as some bonafide club bangers, the mix just gives you a sample of the type of crowd friendly flavor you can expect anytime you see Jonny Blaze on the bill.
